Kara and Josh’s Late Fall Wedding at Black Cat Farm

Kara and Josh came to me through Kara’s brother Erik, whose wedding to Sarah I shot last summer (remember the tornado wedding)? So of course I was thrilled, I love to shoot weddings when I have already gotten to know the families, it makes everything that much more special.

These two were getting married in late fall at Black Cat Farm, which could have been a risky move weather-wise, but turned out to be the last beautiful day before the weather turned and the leaves fell, and so it seemed meant to be.

Their micro-wedding was perfectly intimate, with just close family and a handful of friends, and emotional in the way that only tiny weddings can be. I think just about every person cried at some point, including me!

Sarah from Delilah Events orchestrated a perfect day for them, and the farm-to-table food at Black Cat was perhaps the best wedding meal I’ve ever tasted.

Venue: Black Cat Farm
Second Photographer: Annah Meintzer
Event Coordinator: Sarah Lurie at Delilah Events
Hair and Makeup: Wise Artistry
Flowers: Boulder Blooms
Shoes: Converse
Music: Travis Daudert
Officiant: Father of the Bride

We did their first look and family photos along Boulder Creek, and the changing leaves were absolutely incredible. And the look when Josh saw Kara was truly priceless. Good thing they were prepared with their tissues.

Their matching converse sneakers made me so happy. And her seashell dress! I have never seen anything like it. They also decided to get matching tattoos instead of rings, of blueberries because that’s what they call each other.

Rachel from Wise Artistry did a fabulous job with Kara’s hair and makeup, it was lighthearted and youthful, just like Kara, who as you can see, is very easy to fall in love with …

We had some fun doing family portraits, and then moved on to our ceremony site at Black Cat Farm, where Sarah had everything ready and beautiful.

After feeding and watering a unity plant, it was time to reveal their tattoos, which Sarah had carefully wrapped up for them.

Congrats you two, time to celebrate!

Kara and Josh got to know each other at Kara’s board game club, so the evening ended with board games in Black Cat’s sweet little glass cabanas.
